The Pirates are swinging at everything

The graphic below indicates the location (from the catcher’s point of view) of every pitch the Pirates swung at in last night’s game against the Orioles. The strike zone is an estimate for a six-foot tall right-handed batter, using Mike Fast’s formula.

By my count, there are something like 17 pitches here that were clearly outside the strike zone, and several more were somewhat borderline pitches that most likely would not have been called strikes. What are the Pirates swinging at?
