Day 12 of Spring Training

Good morning from Pirate City.

  • The Buccos will take the field early today, and also wrap up early for a charity golf outing that starts at 1 PM.
  • Today’s scheduled bullpen sessions: Erik Bedard, Joel Hanrahan, Evan Meek, Tony Watson, Daniel McCutchen, Doug Slaten, Shairon Martis
  • Mike Crotta, Brad Lincoln, Juan Cruz, Daniel McCutchen, Chris Resop and Justin Wilson also have early work this morning.
  • The bunting finals are scheduled for today at 9:45 AM. It will be Brad Lincoln vs. Joel Hanrahan and Rudy Owens vs. Mike Crotta.
  • Pitchers will work on team PFP’s and conditioning this afternoon. Position players are scheduled for signs, base running, team PFP’s and staff BP.
  • The Pirates posted the lineups for the inter-squad game tomorrow. It will be an eight-inning game at McKechnie Field starting at noon.

  • Saturday will kick off the Grapefruit League. The Pirates first spring training game will be in Dunedin against the Toronto Blue Jays at 1:05.

Scheduled to pitch against Toronto is James McDonald, who will throw two innings. He is followed by Brad Lincoln, Chris Resop, Chris Leroux, Tony Watson, Daniel McCutchen, Ryota Igarashi and Juan Cruz.

Justin Wilson is scheduled to throw a side on Saturday. Jo-Jo is scheduled for extra work (15 pitches). Also, Charlie Morton will throw his second live BP.

  • Sunday the Pirates will face the Blue Jays at McKechnie Field at 1:05. A.J. Burnett is currently scheduled to start and throw two innings. I’ll update if I hear if he is scratched and who will replace him. Following in relief are Erik Bedard (2), Joel Hanrahan, Evan Meek, Jason Grilli, Doug Slaten, Shairon Martis.

Daniel Cabrera, Tim wood, Duke Welker will throw touch and feel sides.

  • Monday the Pirates will face the Baltimore Orioles in Sarastoa at 7:05 PM. Jo-Jo Reyes is scheduled to start, and will throw two innings. He is followed by Justin Wilson (2), Jared Hughes, Daniel Moskos, Bryan Morris, Mike Crotta and Tim Wood.

Charlie Morton is scheduled for a lite side session. Brad Lincoln and James McDonald will also throw sides.

  • On Tuesday the Pirates will face the New York Yankees at McKechnie Field in Brandenton at 1:05.  Kevin Correia is scheduled to start and will throw two innings. Following in relief are Daniel McCutchen, Doug Slaten, Chris Resop, Tony Watson, Chris Leroux, Ryota Igarashi and Juan Cruz.

A.J. Burnett is currently scheduled to throw a side. Shairon Martis will also throw a side.
