Pirates Minor League Camp Team Rosters

Below are the rosters for the minor league camp teams. There are a few big disclaimers for these rosters.

1. Don’t take the assignments literally. If a guy is on the AAA team, that doesn’t mean he’s starting in AAA. From what I’ve noticed in the past, players often play one level up from where they’re expected to start the season. That doesn’t mean that every player will be starting a level lower than where they’re listed. But if a guy hasn’t played in high-A, and he’s listed on the AA roster, there’s probably a good chance that he’ll get time in high-A before making that jump.

2. These rosters can change. Guys will be added from major league camp, which could cause some shuffling.

3. The A-ball teams don’t seem to be set in stone. Today’s A-ball game features Nick Kingham, Trent Stevenson, Mike Jefferson, Josh Poytress, and Joan Montero on the mound. Montero and Stevenson are listed on one team, and Kingham, Jefferson, and Poytress are listed on another team. My guess is that the first two A-ball teams will be interchangeable. The Pirates usually have the lower level guys play intersquad games. The third A-ball team will probably play those games against the players remaining from the other two A-ball teams. Or in a case like today, they’ll play a team like Team Canada.

With that out of the way, it’s interesting to look at the rosters and see where everyone is listed. The schedule for minor league camp can be found here.
