(Video) Is Rinku Singh a Prospect?

When the Pittsburgh Pirates first signed Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel out of India, it looked more like a publicity stunt than an opportunity to add a legitimate prospect. Patel has since been released, but Singh is looking more and more like an actual prospect. The key for the left hander is his excellent movement on his secondary pitches.

Considering his background, it’s pretty impressive that he’s managed to add a few strong breaking pitches. That could be enough to push him as high as the AA level, which is something that would have sounded crazy when he was signed. He’s continued to improve, and has added more movement to his pitches coming in to the season.

It wouldn’t be out of the question to see him make the majors one day, even if it’s only for a short cup of coffee. Being a left hander with a lot of good breaking pitches definitely works in his favor. Below is some video of Singh, going up against Harold Ramirez and Elias Diaz.

It would make a great story, even if he is only a Sept callup
